A Look at the SAT/ACT

Ok. The SAT and ACT. Everyone in high school who is planning on attending college has to take either test. I for one HATE STANDARDIZED TESTS. In my personal opinion, all these tests do is measure how smart you are; they don't measure how hard you work, your diligence in the classroom, your time management skills, how bad you really want something. No. They measure how naturally smart you are. Personally if I were a college, I would be more concerned with WHO the actual person is, not how freakishly brilliant they are. Now, I realize certain colleges can't accept certain scores, but really colleges? If someone has, lets say, a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and the have an inordinate amount of extracurriculars and clubs but they only get about a 1600 (SAT) or 26 (ACT) on their stupid standardized test, they really should not be turned down from the college of their dreams. Now, I understand all top 30 schools expect, naturally, smarter people, but I do think it is important for each college to really look at the overall person, not just their scores on a piece of paper. For everyone taking the SAT and or ACT this year, I wish you all good luck and I hope you all do the best that you can do. Hopefully, colleges will care a little bit more about who you are, then your score.
