A Look at Friends

In high school, you have two types of friends: show friends and true friends. It is important to know the difference between the two. For example, show friends are those people you associate yourself with at school to either 1) raise your popularity status, 2) not feel like a complete outsider or 3) talk to only because you feel you owe it to them to make their presence known. Show friends are those people who don't necessarily understand what you are going through and honestly don't really care about you, but care about associating with you for their own benefit. Everyone has those friends, and in high school, it is imperative to not let show friends define who you are because they are just simply not worth failing a test over or missing an athletic event for and they most certainly should not make you feel less of yourself or lower your self esteem. True friends are those people who reach out to you, make you feel better about yourself, make you feel important. True friends are those people who understand when you have to cancel a hang out or miss the awesome party for something more beneficial and important. True friends want you to succeed and they will always have your back no matter what the situation is. True friends will always care about you and will never judge you and they will NEVER think less of you. They are hard to come by, but when you find one or two, hang on tight and never let go.
