A Look at Confidence
Confidence. A lot posses it, few use it. Confidence is one of those things that attracts people to you. Being confident in yourself, your actions, your words, is a really tough skill to acquire and face. In order to be successful and happy it is important to leave behind whatever insecurities you might have and be confident in what you do. It is imperative to have faith in yourself and truly believe that you can accomplish your dreams and goals, because if you don't have confidence in yourself who does? You are your own worst enemy and your own greatest hero, and believing in yourself and having confidence in whatever is you aspire to do with your life is the key to living a happy and successful life. It has taken me a very long time to have complete confidence in myself, but now that I have figured out that confidence is attainable and helpful I use it and show it all the time.

A Look at the SAT/ACT
Ok. The SAT and ACT. Everyone in high school who is planning on attending college has to take either test. I for one HATE STANDARDIZED TESTS. In my personal opinion, all these tests do is measure how smart you are; they don't measure how hard you work, your diligence in the classroom, your time management skills, how bad you really want something. No. They measure how naturally smart you are. Personally if I were a college, I would be more concerned with WHO the actual person is, not how freakishly brilliant they are. Now, I realize certain colleges can't accept certain scores, but really colleges? If someone has, lets say, a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and the have an inordinate amount of extracurriculars and clubs but they only get about a 1600 (SAT) or 26 (ACT) on their stupid standardized test, they really should not be turned down from the college of their dreams. Now, I understand all top 30 schools expect, naturally, smarter people, but I do think it is important for each college to really look at the overall person, not just their scores on a piece of paper. For everyone taking the SAT and or ACT this year, I wish you all good luck and I hope you all do the best that you can do. Hopefully, colleges will care a little bit more about who you are, then your score.

A Look at Friends
In high school, you have two types of friends: show friends and true friends. It is important to know the difference between the two. For example, show friends are those people you associate yourself with at school to either 1) raise your popularity status, 2) not feel like a complete outsider or 3) talk to only because you feel you owe it to them to make their presence known. Show friends are those people who don't necessarily understand what you are going through and honestly don't really care about you, but care about associating with you for their own benefit. Everyone has those friends, and in high school, it is imperative to not let show friends define who you are because they are just simply not worth failing a test over or missing an athletic event for and they most certainly should not make you feel less of yourself or lower your self esteem. True friends are those people who reach out to you, make you feel better about yourself, make you feel important. True friends are those people who understand when you have to cancel a hang out or miss the awesome party for something more beneficial and important. True friends want you to succeed and they will always have your back no matter what the situation is. True friends will always care about you and will never judge you and they will NEVER think less of you. They are hard to come by, but when you find one or two, hang on tight and never let go.

A Look Inside
Being a high school junior can be completely overpowering communally, mentally, academically and athletically… My goal is to relieve some of that stress with helpful hints, guidelines, and of course personal experiences/stories to make high school as pleasurable as it can possibly be. Enjoy.
